How to Build a High-Converting Landing Page

A landing page has one job. Most fail because they are asked to do four.

If you are paying for the click, the page it lands on is part of the media cost. Doubling its conversion rate halves what every enquiry costs you.

The headline should echo what the visitor typed. Someone searching for a specific service in a specific county should see that service and that county in the first line. Mismatch is the most expensive error on the page.

The structure that works

  1. 01Headline that names the outcome, plus one supporting sentence.
  2. 02Call to action and phone number visible without scrolling.
  3. 03Three to five proof points — sectors, years, accreditations, named work.
  4. 04What you actually do, in plain terms and short blocks.
  5. 05Objection handling: lead times, minimums, coverage, price context.
  6. 06A short form, repeated at the foot of the page.

Remove the exits

Full site navigation on a paid landing page invites the visitor to wander off. Strip it back to the logo and the phone number. Every additional link is a competing choice.

Write for the mobile visitor first

Much paid traffic arrives on a phone, often on a site or in a van. Short paragraphs, large tap targets, a click-to-call button and a form that can be completed one-handed in under thirty seconds.

Instrument it properly

Track form submissions and calls as separate conversions, keep the campaign and search term against each enquiry, and review lead quality monthly. Without that, page changes are decoration rather than optimisation.

Not generating enough opportunities?

PPC, demand generation and website conversion work judged on cost per qualified lead — not clicks.
