The business
Dortech Direct is a Huddersfield-based business supplying building and glazing products.
Tom sold Dortech glass and balustrade products. Dortech also became a distributor for Glassline.
This was a commercial and distribution relationship rather than a paid Evans Sales Consultancy engagement.
Commercial support provided
01
Developing the distribution opportunity
Developed the Glassline distribution opportunity with the business, so the relationship carried a product route to market rather than one-off supply.
02
Winning new customers
Helped the business win new customers alongside its existing activity.
03
Setting up and improving marketing
Supported the business in setting up and improving its marketing efforts so the commercial activity had demand behind it.
The commercial principle
A distributor route only works if demand is built behind it
Appointing a distributor is the easy half. The commercial value comes from helping that business find customers and market the product — otherwise the route exists on paper only.
A German balustrade manufacturer needed a route into the UK. Distribution alone was not the answer — the distributors had to be found, onboarded, trained and then supported in selling.
