Commercial support beyond the distributor relationship
A North East distributor relationship that extended into broad marketing and sales strategy support over roughly two years.
These businesses are not consultancy clients. They benefited from Tom Evans’ commercial involvement through supply, distribution, market development, marketing or commercial advice. Formal consultancy engagements are published separately as case studies.

Nature of involvement
Distributor + sales & marketing
The business
Westline was a North East building-products business. Its lintels business is now presented as part of Wade Building Services / Wade Building Supplies.
Tom set Westline up as a Glassline distributor and sold glass to the business, working with them for approximately two years as a customer and commercial relationship.
The involvement extended into helping with the business's overall marketing and sales strategy during that period. It was not a formal Evans Sales Consultancy consultancy mandate.
Commercial support provided
01
Establishing the distributor route
Set the business up as a Glassline distributor, giving it a product route alongside its existing activity.
02
Sales strategy support
Supported the business's overall sales strategy across the period of the relationship.
03
Marketing support
Provided broad marketing support alongside the commercial work, so the proposition was presented as well as sold.
The commercial principle
The supplier who understands the customer's market is worth more than the price
Where a supplier can help a distributor sell — strategy, marketing, positioning — the relationship stops being a transaction and starts producing volume for both sides.
Westline subsequently became part of Wade Building Services. That later corporate development is useful current context. It is not presented as an outcome of Evans' involvement.
A German balustrade manufacturer needed a route into the UK. Distribution alone was not the answer — the distributors had to be found, onboarded, trained and then supported in selling.
A major UK balustrade supplier was well established elsewhere in the UK but thin on the ground across the northern territories. Growth there needed direct commercial activity.
