AI + commercial performance

Use AI where it makes the commercial operation better.

Evans Sales Consultancy combines practical sales leadership with hands-on experience of AI, automation and digital systems to improve how businesses research markets, find opportunities, manage sales activity, convert prospects and operate commercially.

Commercial reporting and pipeline information reviewed on screen

AI is a tool. Commercial performance is the objective.

The objective is not to introduce AI for its own sake. It is to remove unnecessary work, improve commercial visibility and give people better tools for making and executing sales decisions.

Evans is not a software engineering company, an AI model developer, a generic automation agency or an IT outsourcing provider. It is a sales and commercial consultancy that applies commercially useful technology to real sales and operational problems.

So the work starts with questions about the business, not the technology:

  • What is slowing the commercial operation down?
  • What information is difficult to access?
  • Where is repetitive administrative work consuming selling time?
  • Where are opportunities being missed?
  • Where does management lack visibility?
  • Where could research or analysis happen faster?
  • Where does customer acquisition contain unnecessary friction?
  • Where can AI support better human decisions?

Only then does it become sensible to decide whether AI, automation, better process, conventional software or simply better commercial management is the right solution. Where ordinary process improvement is sufficient, that is what we recommend.

AI does not replace commercial judgement. It removes work around it.

Capability areas

Where this is applied.

Prospecting & account intelligence

Market mapping, target-account identification, account and decision-maker research, qualification, opportunity research and outreach preparation — research and preparation done faster, with targeting and communication still decided by a person.

Market intelligence & market entry

Country comparison, competitor mapping, route-to-market research, segmentation, distributor and partner research, market prioritisation and research synthesis feeding directly into international market entry work.

Sales operations & CRM

CRM workflows, lead routing, follow-up processes, pipeline visibility, opportunity summaries and account information. Better systems should increase selling time, not create another layer of administration.

Pipeline, reporting & visibility

Pipeline analysis, management reporting, KPI visibility, conversion and lead-source analysis, stalled-opportunity identification and commercial dashboards — decision support for the people running sales.

Customer acquisition & digital journeys

Conversion-led websites, landing pages, guided journeys, planning tools, commercial calculators, enquiry capture and follow-up routing, connected to the actual sales process rather than run as a separate marketing exercise.

Commercial content & sales enablement

Proposals, presentations, case studies, commercial reports, market-entry documents and sales collateral produced faster and more consistently — with positioning, accuracy and final quality staying human.

Operations & knowledge

Internal knowledge access, process guidance, order verification, workflow support, information retrieval and handover processes — the interface between the commercial and operational sides of a business.

AI in practice

How we have applied AI to real commercial problems.

These are working examples rather than formal case studies. Where precise financial outcomes are not separately attributable to the system itself, none are claimed.

Spitfire Pulse

An AI-enabled sales and operations platform, designed around real operational pain

While Sales Director at Spitfire Doors, Tom Evans designed Spitfire Pulse — an AI-enabled sales and operations platform that brought practical company information and operational workflows into one place: company knowledge, order verification, installation tracking and marketing assets.

The purpose was not to demonstrate technology. It was to translate real commercial and operational pain points into a practical digital system, and to show improved workflows quickly before committing to wider investment.

The commercial principle matters more than the build. Instead of asking what could be built with AI, the starting question was where the business was losing time, information or commercial visibility — and the system was designed around that answer.

AI-assisted prospecting & market intelligence

Faster research and preparation, with human judgement still deciding who to approach

Evans uses AI in day-to-day commercial work for market mapping, target-account research, decision-maker identification, qualification, research consolidation, personalised outreach preparation and opportunity development.

What that changes is speed and depth of preparation: understanding a market, building a credible target list and arriving at a conversation informed rather than generic.

What it does not change is judgement. Who to target, why they matter, which proposition is relevant, whether an opportunity is credible, and how and when to approach someone remain commercial decisions. More prospecting activity is not automatically better prospecting.

Digital customer journeys & commercial tools

Journeys built around a customer decision, not a technology demonstration

Evans has built conversion-led websites, guided customer journeys, market-entry planning tools, commercial cost-comparison tools, reporting interfaces and knowledge tools — including the market entry planning tool and the fractional cost comparison tool on this site.

Each is designed around a decision someone is actually trying to make, with supporting evidence, a clear next step, proper enquiry capture and a route into a real sales follow-up.

The test is commercial, not technical: does it help the customer decide, and does it connect to the sales process behind it?

Commercial content & sales enablement

Better consistency and speed, without producing volumes of generic material

AI is used routinely in the production of proposals, presentations, case studies, commercial reports, campaign concepts, website copy and sales collateral.

It improves speed, structure, research and the ability to iterate. It also makes consistency across a sales team far easier to maintain.

Commercial positioning, factual accuracy, judgement and final quality remain human responsibilities. Producing more content is not the objective; producing clearer, better-evidenced commercial material is.

How we approach it

Commercial problem first. Technology only where it earns its place.

01

Identify the commercial problem

Start with the sales, customer or operational issue — not with the technology, and not with a list of things that could theoretically be automated.

02

Remove bad process first

Automating a broken process makes it faster and harder to see. Where ordinary process improvement or better commercial management is the right answer, that is what we recommend.

03

Identify where AI actually helps

Research, analysis, knowledge access, administration, content, workflow or decision support. Some problems fit AI well. Others need conventional software, or a different way of managing the work.

04

Build or configure the simplest useful solution

Whatever is genuinely needed and no more. Complexity is what stops these systems being used once the initial enthusiasm passes.

05

Connect it to the commercial workflow

CRM, customer journey, sales process, management reporting or the operational system. A tool that sits outside the workflow gets abandoned.

06

Test it against real use

Does it save time? Does it improve visibility? Does it help people make better decisions? Does it improve the customer experience? Does it support revenue activity?

07

Keep human control

Commercial judgement, customer relationships, approvals and important decisions stay appropriately human-led.

Where specialist technical expertise is needed

Some systems sit outside the boundary of a commercial consultancy. Information security, complex integrations, specialist software engineering, data governance, regulated data and enterprise architecture all require qualified technical expertise.

In those situations Evans defines the commercial requirement, the workflow and what the system has to achieve commercially — and specialist implementation is handled by appropriately qualified technology partners. We do not present ourselves as a cybersecurity or software engineering consultancy.

AI & commercial intelligence

Practical thinking on AI, sales and commercial operations.

Need senior commercial leadership to own the change?

Improvements to CRM, reporting, pipeline visibility and sales administration are often best delivered inside a Fractional Sales Director engagement, alongside responsibility for sales performance.

AI and commercial systems questions

  • No. Evans Sales Consultancy is a sales and commercial growth consultancy. AI is one of the tools used to make a commercial operation faster, better informed and less administratively heavy. The starting point is always the commercial problem.

  • Then we say so. A large share of commercial problems are solved by clearer process, better sales management or a CRM that reflects reality. Automating a poor process simply makes it harder to see.

  • Evans defines the commercial requirement and workflow, and builds or configures practical tools where that is appropriate. Where a system involves information security, complex integrations, specialist software engineering, data governance, regulated data or enterprise architecture, specialist technical implementation may require appropriately qualified technology partners.

  • That is not the objective and, in B2B sales, it is rarely the outcome. AI removes work around commercial judgement — research, administration, reporting, preparation — so that the people selling spend more time in front of customers.

  • Frequently. Improvements to CRM, reporting, pipeline visibility, AI-assisted research and sales administration are often identified and implemented as part of a fractional sales leadership engagement rather than as a separate project.
